Little Elk Canyon to Centennial Trail

Trail head: Go north From Piedmont on I-90 service Rd. Turn left (west) on Little Elk Creek Rd and go 2 miles to trail head at end of road.

Length: 17 miles

Route type: Out and back

Trail type: Single track; short section of gravel road.

Uses: Hiking, running, mountain biking, horseback

Route options: Continue on Centennial Trail to Elk Creek trail head for a longer route.

Usage: Moderate to heavy usage first 2.7 miles in summer. Light usage on Centennial Trail.

Restrictions: No motorized vehicles.

Description: An unmarked trail follows Little Elk Creek upstream to the west. The trail splits and rejoins at some points. Any fork is fine as long as you stay in the canyon near the creek. Follow the trail in the canyon about 2.7 miles until it ends at Dalton Lake Rd (Junction A). Continue on this gravel road paralleling the creek going south and west less than 1 mile to Dalton Lake trail head on the right. Take the Centennial Trail north across the creek. The turnaround shown on the map is at 8.5 miles from Start. Continue on Centennial trail for a longer route.
